Factory Managers are primarily concerned with making their products. Many are extremely dedicated to every detail of their operations and do not like to be interrupted or have changes made. My goal in working with Factory Managers is to learn how they like to work and adjust the way I work and the service I provide to them to meet their needs. This sometimes means:
- being available at certain times and never bothering the manager at other times.
- providing information in the ways the manager likes it, emails, personal discussions /meetings, demonstrations
- bundling the environmental tasks so that the manager can just be concerned with environmental issues briefly, and then feel all is finished for a while before going back to all the other jobs
ISO14001 Certification ( International Standards Organisation (ISO) 14000 website ) provides an internationally recognised set of standards for efficient environmental management of any business. The client establishes an environmental management system and an auditor then evaluates the system against the requirements in the ISO standard. Good quality companies usually only fail their audits for two reasons. 1) Their record keeping was inadequate. Often managers assume that if there is no pollution, then the auditor will know they always do the right thing. This is a poor assumption. Auditors always need to see the records. 2) The top management of the company is unaware of the environmental systems.
